The dataminers over at MMO Champion have spotted a hint that our old friend Gamon is soon to be playing a more important role than simply being the Ogrimmar punching bag. A recent update on World of Warcraft’s public test servers has added quest audio for the Tauren neutral NPC, audio suggesting you’ll be fighting alongside him in an assault against Garrosh Hellscream.
Gamon’s original function was as part of an early rogue quest, he was a pickpocket target to introduce players to the ability. But, as a neutral NPC, he could also be attacked by any player. As such he’s been punched, sliced, fireballed, kicked, bitten, and beaten since the game’s release.

Clearly, Gamon is about to take on a larger role. The reference to killing Hellscream, the general who took charge of the Horde at the end of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, implies that Blizzard are having you depose the brutal leader. This is likely setting the way for the game’s next expansion.
