This Titanfall 2 mod adds Halo Forge-style custom gauntlets, and Respawn think it’s “rad”

titanfall 2 custom gauntlets mod

Mods comprise one of the great joys of PC gaming, but one of the coolest customisation tools in gaming has remained largely confined to consoles. The attempt to bring Halo 5’s Forge mode to PC didn’t exactly set the world on fire, but now we’re soon getting a new option in the form of a mod for Titanfall 2.

Game of the Year 2017 debates are well underway, but it’s not too late to reminisce over the best PC games of 2016 (like Titanfall 2.)

James Wilkinson, gameplay programmer at Overkill and part-time modder, is putting together a mod that will allow you to build custom gauntlets for freestyle races through Titanfall 2’s levels. You can set your own start and end points, and you can even place objects – from crates to platforms and massive environmental features – wherever you want. Coupled with Titanfall 2’s acrobatic movement system, you’ve got some great options for building unique levels with high-speed platforming challenges.

Check out the trailer above for a much clearer look at what it all entails. Wilkinson hopes to have the mod ready for release in 2018, and if you’re concerned about EA or Respawn taking umbrage at the mod, then don’t be. Respawn community manager Jay Frechette says on ResetEra that “we think it’s pretty rad.”

It is indeed pretty rad, and this looks like a fun way to jump back into Titanfall 2 to enjoy some of its excellent movement mechanics. Of course, any reason to play more Titanfall is a good one.
