Is God of War Ragnarok Steam Deck compatible? Following the unfortunate Steam Deck ratings given to Horizon Forbidden West and Ghost of Tsushima, God of War Ragnarok may also struggle to earn an official rating for Valve’s handheld.
God of War Ragnarok is finally coming to PC, and we’re sure owners of the Steam Deck OLED will be eager to play it on the handheld, regardless of whether Valve deems it to be Playable, Verified, or Unsupported for the best handheld gaming PC.
Will God of War Ragnarok be Steam Deck compatible?
God of War Ragnarok is not yet rated for Steam Deck by Valve. We expect it to be Unsupported based on how recent PS5 ports have been handled.
While the God of War Ragnarok system requirements are yet to be revealed, we can use the recent release of Horizon Forbidden West to predict how Ragnarok’s release will play out.
God of War Ragnarok will feature support for AMD FSR 3.2, meaning resolution upscaling will potentially be available to boost frame rates on the Steam Deck, and despite it not working too well at lower frame rates, frame generation will also be present in this implementation.
Horizon Forbidden West was released at a similar time to Ragnarok on PS5, and although it’s possible to get it running on the Steam Deck, the tinkering required in the settings menu is deemed too much for Valve, and it remains Unsupported to this day. I fear God of War Ragnarok may be heading for the same fate, where it will run just fine, but not at default settings or without the use of FSR upscaling.
Ghost of Tsushima was also rated as Unsupported for Steam Deck, but this was due to issues with an online co-op mode. God of War Ragnarok will require a PSN account link to play but has no other online features that could prevent it from working on Steam Deck.
