Update, December 9: A new gameplay trailer for Soulcalibur 6 was unveiled at the PlayStation Experience, showing another round between Sophitia and Mitsurugi.

The PlayStation Experience presentation was pretty low-key this year, as we expected after a load of announcement at Paris Games Week and The Game Awards. But us PC folks did get a couple of new trailers to enjoy, including an extended look at Soulcalibur VI gameplay.

For the next year in greatness, check our list of upcoming PC games.

No new looks at characters here, since it’s still Sophitia and Mitsurugi doing battle, just as in the shorter TGA trailer. We do get a look at a new, snowy stage, and we now know that Sophitia’s clothes have continued to shrink in the wash over the past 20 years.

Original Story, December 8:The Game Awards hosted the announcement of Soulcalibur VI. The teaser featured what looked to be Sophitia and Mitsurugi duking it out in some pretty traditional Soulcalibur action – which will certainly be enough to get fans fired up, as it’s been half-a-decade now since the release of Soulcalibur V.

Fans have noted thatSophitia and Mitsurugi look rather young in their depictions in the trailer, suggesting this could be a reboot or prequel. Not a lot to glean fighting system wise, beyond it being the 3D, weapons-based beat-em-up we’ve known for years.

Soulcalibur VI will release in 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam. Here’s the official Twitter and Facebook accounts. Rumours abound that a Bandai Namco event is happening before the end of the year where we might learn more, and there’s the Playstation Experience as well of course.
