The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super is currently going for the lowest price we’ve ever seen, with this latest graphics card deal on Newegg pricing the top-end GPU at just $949.99. That’s a $50 drop on the usual MSRP, and it’s a good $250 cheaper than the original (and slower) RTX 4080 when it first came out.
The RTX 4080 Super is our favorite sub-$1,000 gaming GPU right now, earning it a coveted place on our guide to the best graphics card. Its launch earlier this year saw Nvidia effectively acknowledging that the original RTX 4080 offered poor value for money, and that it needed a cheaper and faster high-end chip in this price bracket.
Usually, this GPU goes for an MSRP of at least $999.99, with overclocked models costing well over a grand, but Newegg is currently offering an overclocked PNY TYX 4080 Super Verto graphics card for just $949.99. To get the GPU for this price, head over to Newegg, where the card is currently listed at $979.99, and for a limited time, you can then input the code VGAEXCAB364 to get a further $30 off, bringing the total to just $949.99.
Despite its lower price, the RTX 4080 Super is more powerful than the original RTX 4080. It has 10,240 CUDA cores for graphics processing, along with 80 RT cores for ray tracing. That’s a decent step up from the 9,728 CUDA cores and 76 RT cores on the original RTX 4080, and the Super model has a 45MHz higher boost clock speed of 2,550MHz as well, to push its gaming performance a little further. More importantly, the RTX 4080 Super has a much more sensible price than the original RTX 4080, which cost $1,199 at launch.
This all-black PNY card adds an extra 15MHz to the RTX 4080 Super boost clock, taking it up to 2,565MHz. That’s admittedly not a huge amount of extra clock speed, but it’s great to see a cut-price RTX 4080 Super card going beyond the usual reference specs. There are no frills, such as RGB lighting, but it offers three cooling fans to keep the chip in check, as well as a ventilated backplate to help push hot air out the top of the card.
