All FF14 Dawntrail Aether Current locations

Hunting those little green Aether Currents can be tiring in FF14. Here are all of the locations and some hints for the tricky ones.

Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail Aether Current locations guide

Where are the FF14 Dawntrail Aether Currents? The in-game compass only works so well, and while many players enjoy finding them on their own, they can be a pain to locate. Some of them look accessible from one location but really require a completely different route. Whether the current is as simple as strolling up to it or at the top of what could be considered a jumping puzzle, we’ve got you covered, and you’ll be flying in Tural in no time.

Each of these FF14 Dawntrail Aether Current locations are broken down by zone. Just like the Endwalker Aether Currents, there are six new zones in Dawntrail, each of which will have 10 overworld Aether Currents for you to attune to, and five quests that give them, totaling 15 currents for each zone in the MMO game‘s latest expansion.

Don’t plan on completing each zone as you run through MSQ. If Dawntrail follows the same formula as its predecessors, only half of the map will be available at a time. The MSQ will eventually bring you back to maps you’ve already visited and unlock the other half. Then you can complete all of the Aether Currents as long as you have completed the last MSQ step that awards the final quest-based current.

In order to find the Aether Currents, you’ll need the Aether Compass. It can be found by selecting the Duty menu and selecting Collection. For ease of use, you can drag the Aether Compass onto your hotbar instead of having to sort through the menu every time. The overworld currents can be tricky, with some in plain sight but with a convoluted path to get there.

After you complete all 10 attunable Aether Currents and finish the five quests that grant them, you’ll be able to fly in that zone.

Here are all of the locations of the Aether Currents organized by zone. The maps are listed in the order players visit them when going through MSQ. Please note that this guide will be regularly updated as we progress through each area, so bookmark this page to return to if we’re missing some the first time you see it.

Once you’ve completed all of the Aether Currents in a given zone, you’ll earn flight in that zone, which will enable you to uncover the whole map. Don’t forget to fly around and uncover any fog of war spots you might have missed while restricted to the ground!

Don’t forget to check the FF14 server status and maintenance times in case you’re having trouble accessing the game. You’ll also do well to remember the way that FF14 early access codes work, so you don’t get locked out of Dawntrail when the full release rolls around.
