Destiny 2’s next DLC is the Fallen Warmind, says another unlikely ‘leak’

Destiny 2’s second DLC – and its last major content injection until an almost-certain expansion in September – has supposedly leaked online via US retailer Gamestop. It’s probably not accurate, but if it is, it will be called The Fallen Warmind.

Here’s everything Bungie are planning to add to Destiny 2.

Details are sparse, but here’s the story synopsis according to a screengrab:

“Destiny 2 Expansion II: The Fallen Warmind continues your Guardian’s journey with all-new story missions and adventures set in a new destination, Mars. Rasputin has mysteriously vanished, and Ana Bray has returned to The Last City, warning of a dark uprising on Mars. Discover the conspiracy behind his disappearance, prevent the rise of a corrupted Warmind, and uncover the truth behind the Collapse.”

Previous ‘leaks’ – at least one of which is also very likely to be a hoax – stated our main opponent in the new DLC would be a rogue Warmind, but one had said it was Rasputin himself, whereas the other said it was Charlemagne, who had imprisoned Rasputin.

This new ‘leak’ tallies somewhat with the latter theory, and with the official box art we’ve seen. Exploring Deep Stone Crypt (a place where Exos were born, according to Destiny lore) and learning more about the Collapse would be big developments, but much like the other product details, are left pretty vague, so it’s hard to guess from them alone whether this leak is more credible than the others.

That said, there’s nothing about these screengrabs that strikes me as particularly difficult to fake, as one Reddit poster pointed out. Maintain your healthy scepticism.

For the unfamiliar, Warminds were artificial intelligences hooked up to satellite-mounted doomsday weapons, each given the task of defending a planet during humanity’s Golden Age. Rasputin was Earth’s Warmind, and Charlemagne was Mars’s.

Here’s the Reddit thread from which the ‘leak’ originated, with two screengrabs of the page.

One thing we do know for sure: the DLC will launch in May, alongside season three.
