We knew that Zeboyd Games were planning on moving away from the parody games that made them famous. It’s a shame we aren’t going to see another Cthulhu Saves the World or Breath of Death VII but we can take some solace in the fact that Cosmic Star Heroine looks and sounds a little bit grand.

“Cosmic Star Heroine is our latest attempt to recapture the feel of some of the classic RPGs of the 90s, while putting our own unique spin on the whole experience,” studio founder Robert Boyd wrote on Sony’s Playstation blog. “Inspired by games like Chrono Trigger (visual style, on-map battles, combo techniques), the Phantasy Star series (overall feel of the worlds and characters), and the Suikoden series (political intrigue, expandable player headquarters), we can’t wait to share Cosmic Star Heroine with you!”

He also revealed something of who the heroine of Cosmic Star Heroine is. She’s called Alyssa L’Salle and “She’s one of the galactic government’s top agents, and has saved the galaxy more than once! But when she accidentally uncovers a dark conspiracy, her own government outs her as a legendary spy and the people’s champion! Sure, now she has hordes of adoring fans, but every villainous organization she’s ever crossed in her career knows who she is and is out for her blood! Can she save the day once more while she faces her greatest challenge… everyone!?”

It’s a great premise. It puts you into a similar spot to Tony Stark after revealing himself as Iron Man. Any game that can be likened to Iron Man can surely be nothing but good, right?

We should find out in 2014. That’s if the game’s Kickstarter campaign succeeds. It’s not launched yet but when it does we’ll be sure to let you know.

Cheers, Indie Games and PC Gamer.
